Do your summer homework (please!)

Hey Reader,

I'm on vacation right now, but as a ✨ responsible creator, ✨ I typed this email when I was at home, so all I had to do was plug in this stunning photo and press send:

As we've already made it through almost half of European summer, I want to share an idea that I've been talking about for years:

Summer is the perfect time to tap into content creation, grow your audience, and test new ideas.

Most people are lazy and busy during summer.

They have to take care of their kids, are on vacation, and just don't produce their best work when it's hot outside.

This is your opportunity to shine, Reader!

Here's a specific example: Writers publish fewer stories on Medium, but readers keep paying for the subscription. And even if they read less, the same sum for payouts is allocated to writers, which means you are competing with less noise.

Some of our clients have been celebrating amazing wins on Medium last week:

Joseph's piece, for instance, got featured on Medium's Staff Picks section and was read by thousands of people:

Lauren has celebrated her first Boost (and the second one right afterward!):

And Isabel is celebrating Boost after Boost on her stories:

I work with Joseph, Lauren, and Isabel inside my private Mastermind, Write • Build • Scale, where we focus on the following:

  • Community support through weekly coaching sessions and feedback loops.
  • Actionable workshops to help you become a better writer and build a digital business that enables you to make a living doing what you love.
  • Guest experts who help you think outside of the box and explore new opportunities.

In August, for instance, we'll dive into why we decided to start publishing on Substack and how we'll use it as part of our content marketing strategy in the long run.

We'll host several workshops and have a guest interview with a bestselling Substack writer scheduled.

This brings me back to making the most out of your summertime: Summer is a great opportunity for you to do your homework and prepare for the next season in your life or career.

It's your time to learn, grow, strategize, and test new ideas, so you can execute when summer is over.

That's why July was a great time for me to start publishing content on a new platform (Substack).

If you're not where you want to be yet, this is a great period to ensure you build momentum for the rest of the year.

I don't want you to look back in December and wish that you had done more or achieved more.

I want you to make use of your time right now, so you can look back and be proud of how far you've come.

If your 2024 goals included boosting (or starting) your digital writing career, reply to this email so we can talk about how we can support you to ensure you spend your summer months well. 👋

Big love from my screen to yours,
Sinem

Hey Reader, When I started to publish on Substack this summer, I received dozens of emails with questions like: Why did you start to write on Substack? Are you leaving Medium? Is Substack better than Medium? How did you grow your audience on Substack so quickly?! The short answer is that Substack is an addition to my existing channels like Medium and Convertkit. I'm not replacing those. And to be fair, Substack has proven to be an excellent addition with lots of benefits that I don't have on...

Hey Reader, Over the last 4 years, I've worked with thousands of writers, and one question I see beginners share all the time is this: What should I even write about?! There are many ways to decide what to write about, but I'll share a simple one today: Write what you care about. One of the wonderful writers I got to work with this year is Melon Dash, an adult swimming instructor. I was lucky to meet Melon in person back in June and have a deep conversation about her work and what writing...

It's sad story time, Reader.. my friend canceled on me last Friday, and I was too lazy to make new plans. My fiancé Philip has been on a long walk (his newest obsession), so I was alone at home. And guess what a writer with no plans does on a Friday evening?! I wrote newsletters! My ✨creative juices✨ were flowing and I wrote three newsletters for you. Sent one on Friday. One is scheduled for later this week. And the third was supposed to be sent.. today. Except, it's gone. When I opened...
