I wish I knew THIS sooner

Hey Reader,

I've been happy for a bunch of different reasons this past week, and I'm thrilled to share them with you today (no bragging and lots of value - promised!)

First of all, I made my inner child very happy by throwing a Super Bowl/Taylor Swift party on Sunday. (thank you for all the epic snack & drink recommendations you shared by replying to last week's email - it's been a delicious party!)

I forced my non-Swiftie friends to watch 1/3 of the Eras Tour movie and don't feel a tiny bit bad about it. 🤘

To quote Taylor Swift:

The worst kind of person is someone who makes you feel bad, dumb, or stupid for being excited about something. You should never have to apologize for your excitement. Just because something is cliché doesn't mean it's not awesome.

No matter if you're throwing a Swift-themed party, starting a new side hustle, trying a new sport, or changing careers - never be ashamed of being excited about something.

When I started to write online, I was doing an internship at a huge corporate. Every day, the interns would meet up for an extended lunch break with a long walk in the park.

Most of them were hoping to sign a steady employment by the end of their internship.

When I told them I was writing online and wanted to do my own thing, they gave me pitying looks.

I knew exactly what I wanted:

  • I wanted to write
  • I wanted to travel
  • I wanted to work on my own schedule

And I hated the idea of having a boss who'd tell me what to do and how to do it.

While each of them made me feel stupid for what I wanted - here I am: Making six-figure profits through my content, working 25 hours per week, traveling for several months a year, and doing work that I genuinely enjoy.

I don't say this is the right path for everyone, but I knew it was the right one for me.

And I'm forever grateful to my younger self for not giving up when others tried to make me feel stupid for what I wanted.

3️⃣ Psychological Biases to Boost Your Content & Writing

You know who also didn't listen to negative voices and criticism?

Jimmy Donaldson - better known as MrBeast, or: the world's most-followed YouTuber.

I recently dug deep to understand which strategies he uses to generate millions of views on his content.

Here's the answer 👇

🎉 2 (Marketing) Queens & Me

Last but not least, I made a little happy dance this morning when I saw my face pop up next to Jenna Kutcher & Amy Porterfield on Convertkit's Recommendation Pages:

In case you're not familiar with these ladies: They're the queens of online marketing. 👑

They're serving hundreds of thousands of followers and subscribers and running multi-million companies.

And full disclosure: I've learned a lot from both of them.

I regularly dissect every single word on Amy's sales pages and spend hours in the gym listening to Jenna's brilliant podcast.

If you've been following me for a while, you might know that I don't like fancy marketing strategies that don't deliver results.

Heck, I've been a full-time creator for four years, and I don't even have a website for a single reason: I didn't need one.

I like to keep things simple and effective, which is also why I rarely share that I got featured somewhere, that I hit a special follower/subscriber count, or anything alike.

I don't like "wins" if they don't translate to either happiness or profit.

But seeing my face next to two of the smartest and most successful ladies in the industry does make me happy.

I'm thinking of writing an article about how I got featured next to Amy & Jenna to share some behind-the-scenes insights that I wish I learned years ago. (I'm pretty sure it's not what you think.)

So if you have any questions, hit *reply* and let me know - I'd love to hear from you! 📥

Big love from my screen to yours,
Sinem

Hey Reader, I'm on vacation right now, but as a ✨ responsible creator, ✨ I typed this email when I was at home, so all I had to do was plug in this stunning photo and press send: As we've already made it through almost half of European summer, I want to share an idea that I've been talking about for years: Summer is the perfect time to tap into content creation, grow your audience, and test new ideas. Most people are lazy and busy during summer. They have to take care of their kids, are on...

Hey Reader, I've worked with thousands of writers over the past five years, and even though every writer's journey is different, many of us face the same struggles. One of them is idea generation. Even experienced writers can sometimes feel stuck in a creative rut and experience writer's block. Click here for a new perspective on how to constantly come up with great content ideas. 🖍️ I'm in week #2 of publishing Notes on Substack, and my excitement is still high! Hey Reader, most of the emails I send you don't have a clear theme or topic, but today is different. This week, I want to encourage you to allow yourself to show up as your authentic self. When we start to publish our work online, we're usually afraid of being judged. And to minimize the risk of being judged, we pretend to be someone we're not. We put on a mask to be professional, smart, or cool. But you know? The easiest way to stand out and share your message with the world is by being you:...
